Course Overview

Sensory Processing is a neurological process wherein the brain senses, processes and integrates the sensory stimuli. This enables the body to respond adaptively in the environment by using the information to plan and organize behaviour. Sensory Integration is a part of this process.

Understanding Sensory processing dysfunction is a three-day workshop to help participants understand Sensory processing dysfunction and the use of the ‘Ayre’s Sensory Integration principles in therapy.

Goals

Increase understanding of different sensory systems, sensory processing dysfunctions and their functional implications
Introduction to assessment of sensory processing dysfunctions using formal and informal methods
Planning of intervention based on the principles of sensory integration
Formulating IFSP and goal sharing with the families and sensory based strategies for home and school environment
