Who can apply: This training is suitable for community based front line workers and project supervisors who have access to caregivers of children 0-3 years.
Objective:
To train community health workers on concepts of ECD and to work with caregivers to build their capacities in ECD for their own children.
Program details – The training is an introduction to Early Childhood Development (ECD) in 0-3 years. The training covers the following concepts
What is ECD and why it is important?
This section is based on the science of neurobiology and child development.
· Typical Child Development milestones in 0-3 years and how to promote the same using caregiver-mediated play-based activities.
· Risk and protective factors that influence ECD
· Working with caregivers for promotion of ECD at home
· Conducting quality ECD home visits
Resource materials – Recommendation activity booklet, handouts with typical development milestones, session notes, video of home visit demonstration.
Mode of training –
-On-site at partner organization,
-Online training – 16 hours to be divided over 4 days.
Training is followed by mentorship support calls, to support participants with any implementation or content queries or challenges. The number and frequency of mentorships are determined based on the proposal and need identified before start of training.
