The SELebrating Inclusion Summit (SIS) is an annual advocacy event to create a platform to bring stakeholders like organizations, policy makers, schools, educational institutions, families, educators and any individuals working towards making the education system more inclusive, safe and focused on the wellbeing of those accessing it together.
In June 2024, the Summit revolved around the theme of ‘Building a Culture of Love, Care and Compassion’ through social emotional learning informed inclusive practices. It aimed to explore and promote the integration of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) principles into inclusive practices, fostering a culture of love, care and compassion in education settings. As SIS 2024 unfolded, participants could expect a unique blend of insightful discussions, collaborative networking and immersive experiences. The summit served as a beacon for those committed to advancing SEL and inclusion, marking another milestone in its continued journey of fostering positive change.
SIS 2024 was hosted in a hybrid mode with sessions being held online and in-person mode (with YouTube live streaming available). Thematically, it continued to be structured on the core concepts of systems, stories and spaces of wellbeing as in the previous years and the Gallery space (showcase) became a permanent part of the design so that various organisations/schools were able to showcase applications of SEL and inclusion interventions in the school context.
As in previous years accessibility was prioritized for all participants through the selection of an accessible venue (seating arrangements, restrooms, signages, etc.), having sign language interpreters, live captioning and transcripts and having a sensory room keeping the needs of different participants in mind.
SIS 2024 was the fourth edition after successfully co-hosting the event with Apni Shala Foundation in 2021, 2022 and 2023. A Community of Practice that emerged from the first edition of the summit continues to be a way to strengthen the collaboration and co-learning spaces beyond the annual summit.
