ECHO and Community
of Practice (CoP) Programs

What is ECHO?

Project ECHO is an online model which links expert specialist
teams at an academic “hub” with primary care clinicians (or other
professionals) in local communities (“spokes”). The spokes receive
mentoring and feedback from the specialists in the hubs, so that
they can manage patient cases (or support other needs of the
community) effectively.

This model is built on four principles:

Amplification, i.e., using technology to leverage scarce resources

Case-based learning to master complexity

Share best practices

Web-based database to monitor outcomes

Please visit the website ECHO India if you need further information.

What are Communities of Practice (CoP)?

A Community of Practice (CoP) is a group of people who "share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly". Ummeed often hosts CoPs for its trainees in specific domains so that there is a shared space for learning and a sense of belonging to a community (even if dispersed by geography or other factors).
